2003 Pesticide Registrations

Micromite (diflubenzuron) - insect growth regulator
(This is a summary, please see the product label and supplemental label for more details)
Micromite 80WGS
Pests Controlled:
citrus leafminer, citrus peelminer, katydid
Dosage:  6.25 oz per acre
Method of Application:  Apply by ground application using 100-1000 gallons of water per acre to ensure thorough coverage.  Do not apply more than 18.75 oz per acre per season.   Do not apply within 25 feet of bodies of water.  The addition of spray oil enhances coverage.  Protection against peelminer may last only a few weeks when new tissue is exposed on rapidly expanding fruit.  Most effective on young katydids.
Timing of application:  Micromite has activity on the egg stage of peelminer and the nymph stage of katydids.
REI: 12 hours
PHI: 21 days

2002 Pesticide Registrations
(Assail, Applaud)

Assail (acetamiprid) - neonicotinoid
(This is a summary, please see the product label and supplemental label for more details)
Assail 70 WP
Pests Controlled:
Glassy-winged sharpshooter and citricola scale
Dosage:  1.7-2.9 oz per acre (.07-.13 lbs AI) for GWSS and 3.4-5.7 oz per acre (.15-.25 lb AI) for citricola scale.
Method of Application:  Apply by ground application using 100-200 gallons of water per acre for GWSS and 300-750 gallons water per acre for citricola scale.  Do not apply more than 5 applications or at most 12.5 oz per acre per season.  Allow at least 7 days between applications.
Timing of application: Apply when GWSS nymphs and adults are present.  Apply March-October for citricola scale, however, it is most effective in the fall when the population consists of small nymphs on leaves.
REI: 12 hours
PHI: 7 days

2001 Pesticide Registrations
(Admire, Provado, and Danitol)

Admire (Imidacloprid) - neonicotinoid
(This is a summary, please see the product label and supplemental label for more details)
Admire 2 Flowable
Pests Controlled:
California red scale, glassy-winged sharpshooter
Dosage:  32 fluid ounces of product (0.5 lb ai) per acre.  Do not apply more than 1 quart of product per acre per year.
Method of Application:
For optimum uptake of Admire 2 Flowable, apply to trees either newly planted or trees previously trained to drip / microsprinkler / low pressure irrigation.  Emitters must provide even, uniform distribution of water.  Soil should be lightly prewetted (several hours) to break soil  surface tension prior to application of Admire 2 Flowable.  Once the irrigation system reaches operating pressure, the Admire 2 Flowable solution should be injected into the system over a calculated time interval (generally 2 hours) to allow uniform distribution throughout the system.  The use of a dye marker in the solution is recommended to determine when lines are clear of Admire 2 Flowable.  Once the solution has cleared all irrigation lines and emitters, continue irrigation to move the insecticide to the active root zone but do not over irrigate or cause runoff.  Wait 24 hours before subsequent irrigations.
Timing of application:
California red scale: apply to the soil during May-July.  Uptake is poor during winter months and because of bee toxicity Admire can not be applied during bloom (April).
Glassy-winged sharpshooter:
Apply in citrus orchards May-July.   Admire will take 3-4 weeks to begin to kill the sharpshooter nymphs and adults.
PHI: 24 hours
REI: 24 hours

Provado (Imidacloprid) - neonicotinoid
(This is a summary, please see the product label and supplemental label for more details)
Provado 1.6 Flowable
Pests Controlled:
Citricola scale

Dosage:
10-20 fluid ounces of product (0.125-.25 lb ai) per acre.  Do not apply more than 20 oz of product per acre per year.
Method of Application:
Apply as a foliar treatment in sufficient water (250-500 gal/acre) to cover citrus where citricola scale is found. sufficient  Timing of application:
Citricola scale:
apply to the foliage during August-September.  The higher rate (20 oz) lasts longer than the lower rate and works better against a heavy infestation.
PHI:
24 hours
REI: 24 hours

Danitol (fenpropathrin) - pyrethroid
(This is a summary, please see the product label for more details)
Danitol 2.4 EC
Pests Controlled:
Glassy-winged sharpshooter, citrus thrips

Dosage:
21-1/3 fluid ounces of product (0.4 lb ai) per acre.  Do not apply more than 21-1/3 oz of product per acre per year.
Method of Application:
Apply with airblast equipment as concnetrate of dilute spray to give outside coverage (50-200 gal/acre).  Use only on citrus trees 3 years or older.  To reduce the potential for resistance, only one pyrethroid should be applied per year.  Do not apply in the vicinity of aquatic areas.
Timing of application:
Glassy-winged sharpshooter:  Apply when pest activity is noted.
Citrus thrips: Apply when immature thrips activity on fruit is noted.
PHI: 24 hours
REI: 24 hours
