Citrus leafminer arrived from Mexico in 2000 and has been gradually working its way northward since that time. Citrus leafminer is known to infest Imperial, San Diego, Riverside, Orange, San Bernardino, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Kern, Tulare and Fresno Counties in California.
