Light brown apple moth was found in 2007 in the San Francisco Bay Area (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Franciso, Santa Clara, San Mateo and Solano Counties), the central coast counties of Monterey and Santa Cruz and in Los Angeles County. It is an 'A' rated Quarantine pest which means that plant material can not be moved from infested areas to uninfested areas. In citrus, the larval stage will most likely damage fruit in a manner similar to Amorbia (webbing and scarring at the calyx end of the fruit). Populations in citrus are likely to be well-controlled by parasites and predators. If it becomes established in citrus growing regions, the greatest impact of LBAM on the citrus industry iwill be that infested areas will become quarantined and will not be able to export fruit.
